An Atlanta mother was arrested after she shot and killed her 10-year-old son in, what she claims to be an accident.
According to Clayton County police, Brittany Parks told officers that she was unloading her gun when it accidentally discharged. The bullet went through a wall and struck her 10-year-old, killing him.
Parks and her boyfriend, who was there at the time of the shooting, rushed the boy to the hospital, however, he was pronounced deceased shortly after.
Police were notified of the incident and the couple were brought into the station for questioning.
According to police, Parks’s story changed multiple times and there were many discrepancies. Further details into the lies that were told to officials, and the actual truth have not yet been released.
She was charged with involuntary manslaughter, reckless conduct, and 2nd-degree cruelty to children.
The boyfriend was not charged in the case.
