NBA player Bryce Dejean- Jones was found shot early Saturday morning after kicking down the front door to a Dallas apartment. Jones, 23, played guard for the New Orleans Pelicans.
Jones was in town visiting his girlfriend and child at their new home at the Camden Belmont Apartments. Sources say Jones left the apartment earlier that day and returned later that night, but apparently went to the wrong apartment. Police say the resident heard someone kicking down the door and “called out” to the intruder but got no response so he grabbed his gun. That’s when he says Dejean- Jones kicked down their bedroom door and he then fired a shot. He says Dejean- Jones then ran out of the apartment where he collapsed in the breezeway. Police were called and he was rushed to a nearby hospital where Medical Examiners later confirmed him dead with a single gun shot wound to the abdomen.
Police don’t believe that Dejean- Jones was involved in any type of crime just a ass of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Investigation is still underway and an autopsy has not been performed. It has been unclear to whether the resident will face any charges at this time.
