President Donald Trump Asks Congress To Amend COVID-19 Relief Bill

3kviews

President Donald Trump posted a video to Twitter Tuesday night asking Congress to amend the 900 billion COVID-19 relief bill that was passed Monday.
In the video Trump posted to his Twitter saying, “I’m asking Congress to amend this bill and increase the ridiculously low $600 to $2,000 or $4,000 for a couple. I’m also asking Congress to immediately get rid of the wasteful and unnecessary items from this legislation and to send me a suitable bill or else the next administration will have to deliver a COVID relief package, and maybe that administration will be me and we will get it done.”
Trump criticized the package and called it a “disgrace” saying he would not sign the bill unless it was amended to increase the stimulus payment.
He also claims that the more than 5,000 pages in this bill, which nobody in Congress has read because of its length and complexity, it’s called the COVID Relief Bill, but it has almost nothing to do with COVID.
Trump listed several overseas spending measures he claimed were contained in the bill while highlighting the struggles facing small business owners.
Trump didn’t specify whether he would actively veto the bill.
If he refuses to sign the bill, the government could shut down on December 29. The $900 billion in emergency economic aid will be frozen, and the race for the two Senate seats in Georgia could also be upended.
