Carlishia Hood, 35, was charged with first-degree murder and contributing to the delinquency of a minor for the shooting of Jeremy Brown. Judge Barbara Dawkins ordered Hood held on $3 million bail.

Hood’s next court date had originally been set for next month, but prosecutors scheduled a new hearing for Monday where they announced that all charges would be dropped. They also announced that the murder charges against the 14-year-old boy were dismissed as well.

“In light of emerging evidence, today the Cook County state’s attorney’s office has moved to dismiss the charges against Carlisha Hood and her 14-year-old son,” said the prosecutor’s office said in a statement.

“Based upon the facts, evidence, and the law, we are unable to meet our burden of proof in the prosecution of these cases,” the office said.

The prosecutor’s office did not say what the new evidence was, but it comes after a video surfaced that appears to show Jeremy Brown, the man who was killed, threatening and punching Hood repeatedly right before he was shot by her son.

  1. They should have never been charged in the first damn place. But, thank u Jesus for your true verdict

  2. I just watched the video. I was mad at first i was like how could she call her son to kill this man not knowing the full story. I’m glad the charges was dropped on both of them because yes he was acting out of pure love for his mama. No man should hit a woman no matter the situation. I’m glad they was released the first story they painted a bad picture of the mother saying she called him in to kill him. That’s good they had cameras with sound to prove he was just protecting his mother.

  3. Well good for her but i’m confused? I get carjacked and pistol wiped and criminal is driving away, i shoot him and i’m charged with murder, he’s no longer a threat. If he was outside leaving how can this be?

  4. Im glad they were able to find the truth brcause the first reporting of this story was way different.
