Irina Starikova, 41, is a female Russian sniper who is responsible for killing 40 people.
She has now been caught after being left on the battlefield. She is said to have told her captors that she was left for dead. This was after being injured in the fight with Ukrainian soldiers.
Starikova has worked with the Russian military that has been battling the government in Kyiv since 2014.
Ukrainian armed forces announced that they captured her and said that she “shot our prisoners in 2014,” and included photos of her.
Starikova’s capture has been determined to be valid. It was also confirmed that she killed 40 Ukrainians some of whom were civilians.
The female sniper was provided with medical services subsequent to her being captured. It is reported that she said, “They left, knowing that I was injured and had the opportunity to pick me up…hoping that I would die.”
Additonally, the Peacemaker Center states that previously, Starikova was given the George Cross medal for her work.
