A student became a millionaire accidentally after selling his selfies as non-fungible tokens(NFTs).

An NFT is a special digital asset symbolizing ownership of real-world things like pictures.

Sultan Gustaf Al Ghozali, a 22-year-old college student in Indonesia, is studying computer science. For five years, he took selfies, sitting in front of his computer with a blank face.

He was going to use the photos to make a time-lapse video for his commencement but then chose to sell them as NFTs.

On the trading platform, OpenSea, he uploaded 933 selfies named, “Ghozali Everyday.”

The pictures first became popular when a celebrity chef bought some and advertised them on his social media pages.

After that, more than 500 users bought Ghozali’s selfies. When checked on Friday, Ghozali’s trading volume had reached $1 million.

“…sold more than 230+ and until now I don’t understand why you want to buy #NFT photos of me!! but I thank you guys for 5 years of effort paid off,” he posted on Twitter.

Ghozali plans to use the money to invest and one day be the owner of an animation studio.
