On Wednesday, a little before 5 p.m., a fatal beating was reported in the 700 block of Tara Drive, in Desoto, Texas.
Now, authorities have apprehended a suspect and charged him with murder.
The Desoto Police and Fire Department discovered Benjamin Stephens on the ground, unresponsive. He was by the side of a house when then arrived to the scene. The Desoto resident was declared dead at the location.
After an investigation, Ociel Martinez, a 19-year-old also from Desoto, was arrested and charged with Felony One Murder for killing and beating Stephens. The 45-year-old had been residing in a group home close to the location on the 600 block of Jamille Drive.
The suspect and the victim knew each other, and Martinez is in custody; therefore, police say that there is no threat to the public.
