It seems as though one family is the first African-American family to race quarter horses in Texas.
Now, they have acquired another horse and decided to give him a unique name.
“We named him Black Lives Matter. This was because we knew he was special and wanted to bring our culture to the sport,” stated Keeundra Hatley Smith, a member of the family.
“Though we faced many obstacles trying to name him “Black Lives Matter” legally, we knew we would overcome and make history. With so much police brutality, we wanted to raise attention and awareness with his name,” she added.
