36-year-old Danny Tiner was arrested on Thursday now that it has been determined that he was on TikTok when he caused a crash that killed five people.

Tiner, from Arizona, has been charged with five counts of homicide, four counts of endangerment, and one count of tampering with physical evidence.

On January 12, 2023, Tiner was using the TikTok app on his cell device while driving through a 55-mph construction zone. He had been going 68 mph. He had been on Interstate 10, in the city of Chandler, when his commercial tractor-tractor trailer slammed into stopped traffic.

Two vehicles were then smashed between another semi and two other cars.

The smashed vehicles caught on fire, killing five individuals.

At first, Tiner told emergency crews that he had been acknowledging a text message on his work tablet when the crash happened.

After an examination of his phone was done, it was found that Tiner had been using the well-known video sharing app at the time.

As of now, he remains in the Maricopa County Jail.
