Two men from the UK have been sentenced to 15 years in prison after trying to smuggle cocaine in bake bean baked beans and condensed coconut milk cans.

Daniel Kelly and Steven Gilhooly, both 43, were arrested after they were caught trying to smuggle over $300,000 worth of cocaine from St. Lucia to London.

Apparently, back in 2018 the two men flew from London to St. Lucia for a holiday trip when authorities noticed a can sealing machine in their luggage.

While in London Kelly took some bean and coconut milk cans and filled them with cocaine before resealing and shipping them out.

An investigation by London police and the U.K.’s National Crime Agency led to an inspection of the package and authorities found 2.742 kg of cocaine.

In January of 2020 Kelly was charged with fraud and importing drugs while in prison serving time for a different offense.

Gilhooly was arrested on March 9 and also charged with importing drugs.

On January 12 Kelly was sentenced to 6½ years in prison and Gilhooly was sentenced to 8½ years.
