5 teens including 4 Texas Roadhouse employees dead after car found submerged in Fort Myers
A car lost control and landed in a southwest Florida retention pond where it went under, killing all five teen passengers, police said Monday. Four of the five victims worked together at a Roadhouse, one restaurant manager confirmed.
The accident happened either late Sunday night or early Monday, killing three women and two men, they were between the ages of 18 and 19, according to authorities.
The identities of the teens were not given initially. No additional details were made public Monday.
The Interim Fort Myers Police Chief Randall Pepitone was there as authorities worked to rescue the victims from the vehicle to perform life-saving measures but sadly, there were no survivors.
“My condolences to the family of these victims,” said Pepitone.
WINK-TV reported that flags at the restaurant were flying at half-staff on Monday afternoon.
A Facebook post, made by the Texas Roadhouse said it was “deeply saddened” by the loss of the four workers.
“Our team is grieving alongside their families and friends,” the Facebook post said. “We appreciate the support of our Ft. Myers community during this difficult time.
