5-year-old Zoey Felix, of Kansas, was raped and killed at a homeless camp in the woods last month. This came after neighbors reported that her mother had kicked her and other relatives out of the residence.
According to the Topeka Police Department, Zoey was discovered at a gas station with life-threatening wounds. She was transported to a medical facility where she succumbed to her wounds.
25-year-old Mickel Cherry was apprehended and charged with murder and rape of a victim less than 14.
His bail was set at $2 million.
It was reported that at some point, Cherry had resided in the same residence as Zoey and her father and sister.
The neighbors said that Zoey’s mother had kicked them all out, making them move to a campsite a mile away. They had been gone for about two weeks prior to the incident. Neighbors also disclosed that Zoey struggled a lot and was often seen unsupervised. She wasn’t enrolled in school, and others had to often provide a bath, food, and clothes for her.
Child Protective Services was called multiple times; however, nothing was ever done.
Now, lawmakers in Kansas want answers from the Department of Children and Families.

This is so difficult to grasp. The mother how can she throw her 5yr old daughter to the wolves as if this poor baby could fend for herself. Im just trying to phantom the thought of what this child may have gone thru. MY GOD,.MY GOD.
