9 Year Old Girl Murdered While Playing Outside Her Home; Neighbor Arrested And Charged With Murder
A young Chicago girl was gunned down over the weekend while playing outside her home by an angry neighbor.
According to police, the incident happened around 9:40 p.m. on the 3500 block of North Long Avenue when 9 year old Serabi Medina was outside getting ice cream and putting her scooter away.
When Serabi made it back across the street to her home 43 year old Michael Goodman walked across the street and shot her in the head.
Serabi’s father, who was outside and witnessed the shooting, began tussling with Goodman who was shot in the face with his own gun.
Serabi was transported to Stroger Hospital where she later died from her injuries and Goodman was taken to Medical Center in critical condition.
On Monday, police announced that Goodman was charged with first degree murder for Serabi’s death and that they recovered the weapon from the scene.
Witnesses and neighbors told police that Goodman would often complain about Serabi and other kids being too loud. They said he even confronted Serabi’s father before the shooting.
Goodman is expected to appear in court Tuesday.
