Saturday will be the last day in the month of July that the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will provide benefits in Texas valued at up to $1,691.

People who are eligible, living in low-income households and are provided with SNAP benefits, should have their payments by Saturday. The dates in Texas that the benefits could be issued up until the first 10 business days of every month. The actual date that a person would receive their funds is based upon the last digit of their Eligibility Determination Group number.

The amount of funds provided is calculated according to family size. Thus, a single household would receive $281, and an eight-person household would be provided with $1,691, reports indicate.

The money would be placed on a Lone Star card which can act as a credit card. Only food and drinks can be bought using SNAP benefits. This does not include alcoholic beverages.

Those ages 16-59 must be employed, looking for a job, or be participating in another authorized work program in order to receive SNAP benefits. These recipients must stay employed unless there is a valid reason why they aren’t able to do so.
