Disney Star Coco Lee Dies By Suicide

The well-known voice of Mulan in the Mandarin version of Disney’s “Mulan,” Coco Lee, has died by suicide.

Reports indicate that Lee tried to commit suicide at her residence on Sunday and was transported to a medical facility. She later went into a coma and passed away on Wednesday although measures were taken to try to save her life

Relatives say that Lee battled with depression for many years and had gotten professional assistance. However, she her condition worsened.

Lee is also known for her Oscar-nominated-song, “A Love Before Time,” from the movie, “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.”

She was originally from Hong Kong but resided in San Francisco early on. There, she was Miss Teen Chinatown in 1991.

Lee was also the first Chinese singer to hit it big in America with her ballad, “Do You Want My Love,” in 1999.

Coco Lee was 48.
