Authorities in North Carolina have stated that a father killed a driver who fatally hit his son on Monday morning.
Officials in Person County noted that the driver was gunned down after he struck a boy who had been walking with his mother and father. Their vehicle had just broken down after running out of gas at about 6:30 a.m.
As they walked down a road, the child was hit by another vehicle. He died at the location.
Jeffrey McKay, the driver and a electrical supervisor, did stop and call police. The father of the child then took out his firearm and shot McKay. He was transported to a hospital where he died from his wounds.
Authorities say that the mother and father then entered the driver’s vehicle and left the scene.
Investigators located the stolen truck at the family’s residence and apprehended Chad Woods.
Woods has been charged with second-degree murder and larceny of motor vehicle.
He should have shot himself. He’s responsible for the child.
