Fourth Suspect Arrested In Connection To The Desmond Smith, of Forney, Shooting

A fourth suspect has been arrested in connection to the fatal shooting of Desmond Smith of Forney.

James W. Dipple,20 was being held in Denton County jail on an unrelated murder charge when a warrant for his arrest was issued.

Dipple is wanted in connection with the September,2021 shooting of Smith. Three other individuals are already in custody in connection with the same murder.

Smith was found shot around 2:05am near North Forney High School, when someone passing by contacted police regarding a person in the street that appeared to have been hit by a car.

When police arrived they found gunshot wounds on Smith along with shell casings on the ground. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

After thorough investigation and reviewing surveillance cameras from North Forney High School they saw a vehicle circle the parking lot and someone exit the front and passenger doors.

The suspects, who were later identified as Zacchaeus Ja’Juan Henderson, Isaiah Johnson 19 and Denaja Rena Mims,19 were previously arrested and charged in connection with the murder.

All four suspects are being held in Kaufman County jail. Johnson and Mims on $1 million bonds and Henderson on a $1.5 million bond.
