On January 31, close to 6:30 a.m., authorities were contacted about an occurrence on a flight. When the plane landed at Heathrow Airport, in London, police were there to meet it.
Officers then apprehended a man, 40, after he was accused of raping a woman on the plane that had come from New Jersey.
Reports indicate that the alleged incident happened in the business cabin as other people on the plane were asleep.
Fingerprints, an i.d. photo, and DNA samples were collected from the suspect. Authorities haven’t publicly named the him, and he was let out of jail “under investigation,” police say.
The woman, who is 40, as well, is “being supported by specialist officers and enquiries are ongoing,” officials stated.
It was documented that the flight crew let police know what was going on as soon as they were aware.
“We will cooperate with law enforcement on any investigation,” the airline commented.
