A man in Italy caught what could be the largest catfish catch known to man.

Alessandro Biancardi was boating down the Po River, Italy’s longest river, alone on May 25 when he noticed the water level was the perfect level to fish.

Using the spin fishing method, casting a lure with a fishing pole, Biancardi felt a massive tug and realized he had a catch.

It took about an hour of wrestling with the fishing pole before he was able to get a visual and realize what a huge monster catfish he had caught.

After reeling the fish into shallower waters, he was able to take photos with the help of bystanders who could also vouch for his catch.

Biancardi measured the fish to equal 9 feet and weighed it at 330 pounds before he released it back to the wild for someone else to get the same thrill as him.

The information regarding his catch was sent to the International Game Fish Association, which maintains records for all species of game fish.

The largest catfish recorded prior to Biancardi’s is 297 pounds and 9 ounces.
