35-year-old Earl Lee Johnson is said to have gotten on Facebook Live and broadcasted himself stabbing a woman.

On Monday, April 18, Johnson was apprehended close to 5:30 p.m. He had first been arrested for stealing a vehicle and aggravated flight from an officer.

Later, Facebook’s owner, Meta, notified authorities of “a Facebook Live video that had recorded a male stabbing a female.” This came hours after Johnson had already been apprehended for the other offenses.

Close to 9:52 p.m., the Baton Rouge, LA, police department arrived at S. Sherrod Forest Blvd. They quickly began an investigation about a woman who had died. That’s when Janice David, 34, was discovered deceased in a car, with her hands tied and body bloodied.

Investigators believe that Johnson and David had been using methamphetamine and heroin for three or four days.

As police looked further into the matter, they learned that David was “choked, tortured, and fatally stabbed.”

When Johnson was questioned about the incident as he was already in custody, he confessed to “killing someone.”

Johnson has been charged with first-degree murder in relation to David’s murder. It is said that the woman was stabbed 10 times. Johnson is also accused of attempting to set the car on fire with David inside.

Police say that it is still unclear how the two knew each other.

The investigation is continuing.
