Laura Oglesby, 48, received five years in prison without parole. This is after pleading guilty to stealing her estranged daughter’s identity and social security fraud.

In 2016, Oglesby received a social security card and a driver’s license in the name of her daughter, Lauren Ashleigh Hays, who was 22.

Then, in 2017, she used those items to enroll in Southwest Baptist University in Missouri, receiving more than $17,000 in financial aid in order to pay for tuition.

Reports say that as she pretended to be a young lady, she was employed as a librarian and had boyfriends who thought she was 22 years-old.

In 2018, police learned that ‘Ms. Oglesby’ had taken on Hay’s identity and had embezzeled more than $25,000.

Subsequent to discovering that she worked at the city library, authorities were able to find Oglesby.

When first pulled over by cops, in a traffic stop, she attempted to deny that she was Laura Oglesby. However, when shown evidence of who she was, she confessed and told police she had been fleeing an abusive relationship for years.
