Murder Charges To Be Dismissed Against Security Guard Who Killed Man At Protest

An ex-security guard, Matthew Dolloff, 32, was seen on camera fatally shooting a U.S. Navy veteran. The incident occurred at a right-wing rally in Denver, Colorado.

Now, murder charges against Dolloff will be dismissed.

When “Patriot Rally” protestors were confronted by counter protestors in October 2020, Dolloff was employed by a Denver TV station.

Lee Keltner, 49, was attending the event with his son when he hit Dolloff in the head.

Dolloff, an unlicensed security guard, then took out his gun and fatally shot Keltner as he used a can of bear spray.

Dolloff was apprehended at the scene and faced second-degree murder charges although he claimed self-defense.

On Thursday, prosecutors stated that the self-defense claim would be too difficult to disprove. The charges are expected to be dropped during a hearing on March 21.

Dolloff was set to go to trial in April. In November, he had posted a $500,000 bond. He would have been facing 48 years in prison.

Dolloff isn’t facing anymore charges in connection to Keltner’s killing.
