A Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship stateroom attendant is said to have recorded travelers and children as they were onboard the Symphony of the Seas ship, documents show.

Arvin Joseph Mirasol, 34, was apprehended and faces charges in Florida for the production of child pornography and possession of child pornography.

On February 26, law enforcement was informed by Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines that Mirasol had been involved in criminal activity. This was after he is said to have put cameras into guests’ bathrooms to record them as the ship was traveling in international waters.

When the ship docked on March 3, in Haiti, Mirasol’s electronics were taken into custody by Homeland Security Agents and Customs and Border Patrol Officers. They then discovered multiple recordings of a woman undressing in a restroom and child pornography.

The recording also depicted Mirasol installing the camera in a bathroom on the ship.

Mirasol told investigators that he had also gone in rooms and went under the beds to record the passengers on the ship.

Mirasol started working on the Symphony of the Seas close to December 2023. He stated that he had been recording travelers since he first started working with the company.

When asked about his criminal behavior, Mirasol responded by saying, “I want to control it, but I can’t,” records show.
