Shooting Suspect Had A ‘Sniper’s Nest’ As He Shot Several Rounds At Pedestrians

On Friday, April 22, a shooting occurred in Washington, D.C., that injured four people. Now, authorities have released new information on the incident.

Raymond Spencer, 23, has been identified as the shooter and was found dead in his residence from a self-inflicted gunshot injury. When his apartment was searched, police found a “sniper’s nest.” It was noted that in his possession were several rifles, handguns, and a tripod for a weapon.

“This was very much a sniper-type set up with a tripod. This person obviously wanted to kill and hurt members of the community. The suspect was shooting from north to south. He was shooting at people randomly,” said the D.C. Metro Chief Robert Conte.

Reports state that Spencer had created a cryptic post on ‘4chan’ right after the shooting.

“Dear God, please forgive me,” the post read.

He then seemed to taunt the officers as they combed through his building. “They’re in the wrong part of the building right now searching XD,” he wrote.

“Waiting for police to catch up with me,” he added.

Authorities still don’t know why Spencer shot at hundreds of people from his fifth-floor apartment as they walked on the street.

It is said that he had researched the school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High in Parkland, FL, and the recent New York City subway shooting.
