Smart Guns To Be Available To Americans This Year

5.4kviews

Two gun manufacturers in the U.S. are hoping to release their 9 mm smart handgun to the public this year.

LodeStar Works, a company located in Pennsylvania, and SmartGunz, based in Kansas, have only unveiled their smart guns to certain groups. Shareholders, business partners, and certain law enforcement agents have been the only ones to use a smart gun in America.

The “smart” feature about these guns is their verification systems. The guns will only fire if an authorized user is holding the gun. Unintentional suicides from when children get their hands on guns is a big problem in America. These new guns could substantially drop those numbers of accidental shootings. Smart guns could also limit theft and the illegal sale of guns.

The LodeStar gun would retail for $895.

It’s unclear if American gun owners are interested in these types of guns. According to a survey, 79% of gun owners believe they should be able to buy both smart and traditional guns from their licensed dealer. It’s definitely clear that traditional guns will never be replaced. With these two company’s hopes, however, smart guns could save many lives and make an impact in America.
