Terrell police are investigating a murder that left a high school student dead Wednesday morning near Terrell high school.
Officers responded to a shooting call, around 8 a.m., near Trailview Drive off of Town North Drive. Upon arrival they found the victim, 17 year old Damaria Jackson lying on the ground suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to an area hospital where he died from his injuries.
Authorities have arrested a person of interest on an unrelated charge and are searching for a second suspect in connection with Jackson’s death.
Terrell school district did confirm in a statement that Jackson was a student at the school. They also said, “It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share with you that we have lost one of our precious Terrell Tigers,” the district said in a statement. “We realize that this will be a time of mourning and that our students and staff need time to process their grief.”
