Body cam footage shows the moment that a Marion County, Florida, deputy opened the door of his patrol car, and a woman drove off with the vehicle.

On Thursday, 33-year-old Kendra Boone leaped through the open passenger window as the deputy was walking around the back of the vehicle to talk to her.

Although the deputy tried to stop Boone from driving off with the vehicle, he was unsuccessful. She then took authorities on a four-and-a-half mile chase prior to hitting a pickup truck. This led to her death and the deaths of two individuals in the truck.

Authorities say that initially, they were called to the Forest Shopping Center in connection with a woman attempting to steal another woman’s car keys.

When the deputy arrived to the location, Boone went up to his vehicle as if she was the one who called authorities. Reports indicate that all the deputy knew was that there was a suspect and a caller.

“…we don’t know what we’re about to get into. But, this individual decided to do what she did, and ended up killing two innocent individuals,” stated Sheriff Billy Woods.

He also stated that there was a long gun in the car that led Boone to being a threat to the public and causing a need for chase.

Boone has a lengthy criminal record with most offenses dealing with theft. She had been imprisoned before for fleeing and eluding authorities in 2021.

As of now, the victims’ names haven’t been released, but an investigation is continuing.
