Pregnant Man and Pregnant Non-Binary Person To Be Included In Emojis For IPhone Users

A “pregnant man” emoji and “pregnant person” emoji are coming to Apple iPhones with its latest update.

These alternate pregnant emojis aren’t new for some. The original Emojipedia included the new additions back in September 2021. However, Apple’s version of the emoji were just announced on Thursday as part of iOS 15.4 update.

Both new pregnant emojis come in five different skin tones that users may select.

Emoji creators explained how they “made an effort to be inclusive with gender, especially in recent years. The approach has varied depending on the situation, though the general goal is to standardize inconsistencies in legacy decisions.”

Individuals who were born biologically female but identify as men are considered transgender men. These men can give birth because they still have the reproductive organs necessary to conceive. Trans men who do not take testosterone or have stopped taking it, are more susceptible to becoming a pregnant man. The same goes for those who identify as non-binary.

The update including these new emojis will be available to all iPhone users later this year.
