36-year-old Sean Michael Cuesta has been arrested after authorities say that he killed his mother by hitting her numerous times with empty wine bottles. He also is said to have stabbed her.
The incident occurred inside the woman’s home in North Miami Beach, Florida, on June 11.
Now, Cuesta has been charged with second-degree murder in the killing of his 64-year-old mother. Her husband had found her in their bedroom, face down, with blood everywhere in the room.
Investigators say that an argument had started between the two prior to it becoming physical. Cuesta threw items at his mother and continuously struck her in the head and face with empty wine bottles.
Detectives added that they located a knife, which was used to stab his mother in the temple, in Cuesta’s backpack. He also attempted to wipe up the blood, washed off, put on different clothes, and left the apartment, authorities say. He then phoned his aunt from a gas station and stated, “I killed my mother.”
On Thursday, Cuesta was apprehended and placed in custody.
