Teenage Cheddar’s Employee Beaten Unconscious By Angry Customers

A teenage employee at Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen was brutally attacked by a group of customers in Memphis because of the waiting time.

On Sunday officers were dispatched to the Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen at 2147 Germantown Parkway, around 8 pm. The caller, a manager, told authorities that a group of customers had jumped on one of her host.

The 17 year old employee has since quit his job at Cheddar’s and said, “You never know if they’ll probably come back. They’ll probably kill me if I come back. Anything.”

The employee stated that it was a family of 8 and that he told them it would be an hour wait or they could be seated separately. The family took the separate seating but didn’t like the seats and left.

Another family cancelled so the group was able to be seated together. At this time two of the members became upset and confronted the host about the seating,

A man with the group then punched the boy in the face and a fight ensued. The employee was found unconscious by his mother and transported to a hospital.

The mother, Latisha Ford, said, “It’s very hurtful because not only did they do this to him,” said Ford, “[but] they are adults and it was a group of people. They could’ve killed my son.”

No arrest have been made at this time.

Cheddar’s released a statement saying, “We are shocked and saddened by this senseless act of violence against our team member. Violence has no place in our restaurant and we are cooperating fully with the police investigation. Any further questions should be directed to the Memphis Police Department.”
