A fatal traffic collision that occurred on Sunday, June 18, 2023, at the 3500 block of E I‐30 is being investigated by the Grand Prairie Police Department.
At around 1:55 a.m., a passenger vehicle traveling westbound on I‐30 struck the rear of a car‐hauler trailer that was traveling westbound as well. The driver of the passenger vehicle was pronounced dead on the scene. No other individuals reported injuries. Investigators have not ruled out excessive speed as a cause of the crash.
As police and investigators were working the crash scene, a second crash occurred.
At nearly 2:50 a.m., the driver of a pickup truck traveling westbound on I‐30 lost control of his vehicle’s speed, hitting slow‐moving traffic ahead, causing a chain reaction collision. One passenger of one of the vehicles hit was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead. Two other passengers were also taken to a local hospital their injuries were not life‐threatening.
Both crashes are being investigated.
